FAQ
Below are some frequently asked questions about the SMP process
Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure that uses specialised pigments to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles on the scalp. It’s an effective solution for balding, thinning hair, and scars.
Price varies based on the level of hair loss and overall size of the area! Prices generally start from around $1499 for smaller areas and go up depending on coverage. Your quoted amount will cover all sessions needed to complete and your aftercare products, but we’ll chat numbers properly during your consult – no hidden stuff here.
SMP typically lasts for several years before requiring a touch-up. Factors such as sun exposure and skin type can affect longevity, therefore some clients like to make regular 12 month touch up appointments to keep their look fresh, not faded.
Depending what you’re needing we will require between 2-4 sessions. We build it up gradually to ensure a natural result – not like you’ve drawn it on with a marker. Sessions are spaced about 1–2 weeks apart so we can see how it settles and layer our pigment to match the density and appearance of the existing follicles.
Yep – nothing lasts forever. Most clients come back every couple of years for a top-up just to keep it looking fresh. The sun will be the number one thing to fade it so we strongly recommend wearing SPF or a hat while outside in the warm Aussie sun! Touch-ups are quick and easy – nothing like the first round.
Most clients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure and often fall asleep. Most clients rate the sensation at 1-2/10 and generally the worst part of the appointment is dealing with Bianca for the entire duration.
Bloody oath it will. We custom mix the pigment to match your existing follicles so no one will ever know it’s not real hair. Taking your natural skin tone and lifestyle into consideration – we modify our pigment where needed to avoid any blue tones and build up the density at each session.
SMP is suitable for men and women experiencing hair loss, thinning hair, or those looking to camouflage scars on the scalp. It’s ideal for all skin types and ages.
Beard micropigmentation enhances your beard to a full and even appearance – or can create the illusion of a beard from scratch if you didn’t have one before.
Results vary based on skin type and lifestyle factors but typically last between 2 to 3 years before you may feel like a touch up. Periodic “Refresher Sessions” can maintain the desired look for the rest of your life!
Absolutely, our procedures adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards. We use sterile, high-quality pigments and tools to minimise any risks and give you the best results.
Recovery is minimal. You may experience slight redness initially, which subsides within a few days. Click here for our aftercare advice.
Not with the way we do it. We use top-shelf pigments, and the shades are diluted and modified to suit your skin tone. No green or blue tones here. It’ll gradually fade over the years but stays looking solid – you’ll just come back for a quick freshen up when needed.
It depends on your hair loss – lucky for you Bianca is very upfront and will manage your expectations from the get go so you’re well aware of what will be best for you moving forward should you go ahead with SMP. Our ultimate goal is to give you a natural looking result and this is not a one size fits all service!
SMP is non-surgical, cheaper, and gives instant results – no cutting, no scarring, and no downtime. Transplants involve surgery, stitches, and a long wait before anything grows. You can even do both – we help plenty of blokes thicken up their transplant results.
Absolutely. It’s actually a bloody great combo. SMP can help fill in the gaps, bulk out thin spots, and even cover any scars from the surgery. We do this sort of thing all the time and even conceal scarring from FUE and FUT.
Sure can. Whether it’s a head knock, surgery scar, or something from a past transplant, we’ve got techniques to disguise it and blend it in so it’s way less noticeable.
While semi-permanent, both scalp and beard micropigmentation can be adjusted or corrected if desired. We offer consultations to discuss any modifications.
Before your appointment, avoid excessive sun exposure, alcohol and certain skincare treatments. Detailed pre-care instructions will be provided during your consultation.
Nah mate, most blokes are back at work the next day. It’s non-invasive and there’s no major downtime – just follow our aftercare tips and avoid sweating like a pig for a couple days. FIFO or on the tools? We’ll plan around it.
